Starting off the basketball season in the 2024-2025 school year, the varsity girls basketball team is currently on a winning streak. With each game, the girls give their best fight to represent the school’s unwavering might and their team’s sportsmanship.
Encouraging one another every game, the girls put a lot of effort into each other, creating the cohesive team they are today.
Senior Captain Dasia Hyams believes the team is better than they have ever been before. “We have been doing really good this season, definitely an improvement from last year,” Hyams said. “It feels more like a team this year, and I just like how we’ve been going.”
Every player’s role holds equal importance on the court from the center to the power forward, the small forward, the point guard, and the shooting guard. For junior Averyie Aranda, her role as a shooting guard on the basketball court is a key ingredient the team’s success. “I like my position as guard because I get to make plays and get rebounds,” Aranda said.
The head coach of the girls varsity team, Coach Davis is very impressed with the girls improvement from the previous years. “They are exceeding expectations, not only my expectations but I think pretty much everyone’s,” Coach Davis said. “They are out performing themselves, meeting all the challenges, and they are going above and beyond.”
Let’s cheer on the girls varsity basketball team in their next home game against Klein Forest on December 10th. Let’s go Wildcats, and good luck!
