January 21, 2023
Tomball Memorial’s varsity boy’s basketball team makes an impressive standout this year with wins every single game all around the board. The boys make an impressive leap into this season being unbeatable and successfully representing their team and school. The varsity team played their first game with Magnolia West, beating them in a head-to-head game, with the score ending 51-43. “We were ranked 14th in 6A basketball in the state of Texas which is a school record. We have 8 returning players from last years team that went 24-10 and made the playoffs,” head coach Matthew Bailey said.
The boys express their gratitude and sense of obligation to their teammates and coach this year for their extensive hard work and amazing playing. “My favorite part is just being with my team and all of us just being together as one. It’s fun to make good memories with them over the few years,” junior player Luke Ryder said.
In a recent game, Tomball Memorial’s basketball team won their home conference game against Klein with a score of 44-29. Coach Bailey praises the boys about their performance throughout the season. “The team is very confident. We can always find something to improve on throughout the season.” This year, they managed to have a standing score of 23-3 overall.
With this performance, the boys manage to keep each other motivated and trust each other with different tactics and play each game. “We work really hard together and our friendship. We keep in mind that we can go farther in the playoffs than last year, just trying to do more,” junior Myles Dealy said. This shows people who are not on the team that the atmosphere within it is one of the core ideas into a strong team.
With the hard work of the boys and their diligent coach, the team sets off into hoping to get passed the playoffs with the help of each other along the way.
